Everyone Serves Families with Young Children

Thursday, December 5
9:00 a.m. Check-in begins
9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Training

Colonie Town Library

Audience: All library staff

Families with young children are “strategic gold” for libraries. If we deliver excellent service to parents and children in the early years, those families are likely to stay library users and advocates.

How do families with young children experience your library? What can you do, whatever your job, to create a positive experience that will connect families to the library? Learn about:

  • How early brain development impacts later life
  • Managing difficult situations with parents and young children
  • Ways to make your library more welcoming to families

This training is part of the Ready to Read at New York Libraries initiative of the New York State Library.

Presenter: Mary Fellows, Manager, Youth and Family Services, Upper Hudson Library System

FREE to UHLS member library staff (but be sure to register!). All others $20.

Registration deadline: December 2.

See attached flyer for registration information and more details.
